Self- managed - Ill invoice you after the session, you pay me then you claim back the cost via the NDIS participant portal

Most extras-level private health policies that include speech therapy cover a portion of each session. The exact rebate depends on your fund, your level of cover, and how much of your annual limit you've already used.

Call your private health insurer to check if your policy includes Speech Pathology

Your GP will need to set these plans up for your child and send me the referral

M10 pathway

For under-25s from 1 March 2026, Medicare’s M10 allied health items now cover stuttering, a speech sound disorder, or cleft lip and/or palate. Eligible children can access up to 8 assessment + 20 treatment sessions in their lifetime, rebated at approximately $87.25 per session. This is a significant expansion on the older Chronic Disease Management pathway (which still exists and gives 5 rebated sessions per year for other chronic conditions).

Chronic Disease Management CDM rebates

Up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year, shared across all allied health providers your child sees under the same plan. So if your child is also seeing an OT or psychologist on the same CDM, those count toward the 5. The count resets on 1 January each year.

Helping Children with Autism HCWA

Under The Helping Children with Autism program, a child can be referred by a consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist for up to 4 diagnostic/assessment services and up to 20 treatment services to allied health professionals including Speech Pathologists.

Testimonials

'Janine has been our most treasured Speech Pathologist/Speech Therapist for Amelia since she was 5 in 2022. We have journeyed together from Amelia's initial assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorder to her official diagnosis, and now furthermore in maintaining Amelia's therapy and development of speech, communication and social skills. Amelia has loved Janine and looks forward to and gets excited when she has an appointment.

Janine is so accepting, flexible, affirming and caring towards Amelia. We will not be able to cope without her. Janine is very positive, skilled and resourceful, and has always been able to lead Amelia out of difficult scenarios, very well-versed in helping neurodiverse children. She always communicates with us after each appointment. We will never find a better Speech Pathologist.' :)

‘Janine has been amazing! She has seen both my boys for several years now and speech sessions with Janine is always the highlight of their day. Her activities are individualised, targeted and engaging. I have seen considerable improvement with both children and she has been fantastic in supporting us as parents to understand how we can support the boys.’

Bek

Parent

We can’t recommend Janine highly enough. She has been an incredible support for both of our daughters, tailoring every session to suit their individual personalities, strengths, and needs. Her warm, caring, and kind nature made them feel comfortable from the very beginning, and they genuinely looked forward to their appointments.

She takes the time to provide thoughtful, detailed feedback after each session, helping us understand our girls’ progress and giving us practical strategies to support them at home. Her patience, understanding, and genuine care for our family have made such a positive difference.

We are so grateful for the dedication, encouragement, and expertise she has shown our daughters. She has created a positive, supportive environment where they have grown in confidence and communication, and we couldn’t have asked for a better speech therapist.
